Expences for two Months (for we expectedwere determinedto make the nine HundredPounds last as long)we hastened to
London & had the good luck to spendit in 7 weeks &
a Day which was 6 Dayssooner than we had intended. As soon as we
hadthus happily disencumbered ourselves from theweight
of so much Money, we began to think
ofreturning to our Mothers, but
accidentally hearingthat they were both starved to Death,dead we gave over the design&
determined to engage ourselves to some strollingCompany of Players,
as we had always a turn forthe Stage.
Accordingly we offered our Services
toone & were accepted; our Company was indeedrather small, as it consisted
only of the Managerhis Wife & ourselves, but there were
fewer to payand the only inconvenience attending it was
theScarcity of Plays which for want of People to
fillthe Characters, we could perform.
